  • Rod Licence - Post Office website

Been trying to renew my licence since yesterday (yes, I know I should have been more organised and had it done well before now...) but the Post Office web site keeps saying "Sorry but due to technical reasons, the application is not available. Please try again later"

If I start an application for a 1 or 8 day licence, it seems to be working fine, but won't work for an annual licence.

Looks like I'm gonna have to go to an actual Post Office and deal with an actual person!!

Has anyone else had trouble renewing?

At least it will be successful it's a lot more straightforward at the post office if there is one local to you

You can do it over the phone.

Had the same problem last week as did my mate,It seems that the post office computer has a problem,Ring 03708506506 and press option 6 this will take you to the office that deals with it. Dont know why you are required to register with the post office in order to renew your licence on line its very complicated,Time they put them back into the tackle shops at least it would get more people into the shops and you never know they might just but some tackle whilst they are in there and stop some tackle shops from going under!

if you register with the post office, they will send you a reminder ( had ours 3 weeks ago) along with a reference number to renew, i renew 4 every year no problems. i did them straight away and we all received licences within 5 days

I am registered with the Post Office, but I never get a reminder email, or a letter!!!

Anyway, I finally managed to get it done online. If there was an option to set up an annual Direct Debit I'd do that to save the hassle.

Renewed mine online on the 3rd march, got confirmation email back, but to date have not received my license. Have tried emailing the Post Office but not even had a reply to that and that was sent over 10 days ago.

Can't understand why you just don't do it by Direct Debit, i have done since it was taken away from tackle shops. No problems of any sorts, they write to you, telling you when they are going to take payment ( exact day) Licence always turns up mid March. No worries, especially if you have poor memory or just "forget"
                          Over 75,000 anglers pay by DD, EA No for DD 03708 506 506 8 am - 6 pm Mon-Fri.

I didn't know that it could be done by Direct Debit! I will call them and set it up. Thanks for the info!
