  • Hook alternatives

Looking for some alternatives to b911s, something for big carp, an all-rounder and a hook for silvers. Also looking to maybe try some different hooks for hair-rigging this season if anyone has any suggestions.

Gamma power seem to be a popular hook 911s are brilliant hooks tho don't see why you'd want to change

I'm not changing from b911s i'm just diversifying and looking to specialise slightly to become more species specific. I'll take a look at the gamma hooks, you're not the first to recommend them.

I use b911 for all my pole fishing. B911 f1 for silvers and winter f1 fishing. B911 xtra strong for large carp. If you buy the eyed hooks you can hair rig with them. For waggler I use guru MWG and nothing else. For tip I either use MWG or circle hooks, did use qm1 but the Preston ones are just as good and cheaper. That's all my fishing covered

Thanks lads, I don't get on with the qm1s, I find the points to go over far too easily. I'll take a look at the mwg and the gamma green, black and power hooks for silvers, general fishing and big carp and barbel respectively.

The korum hair rig hook seem ok, strong with a wide gape.
I have an incidental on my left shoulder, he's always there, he's my friend.
He says he gives me good advice. does he ?

The preston prc1 circle hooks are similar in look to the guru qm1.but the qm1 has the ptfe coating and a slightly longer hookpoint.

Can you still get fox series 2 hooks or have fox matrix re-badged them.

                        Hi fordysufc

For silver fish i use tubertini 801, 247, F1's 808 and for the river i use Colmic 957 micro barb.

For big carp tubertini 175, pellet waggler tubertini 861 eyed hook and even on the method or Drennan feeder. Colmic WN501 and WB958 for carp as well.

Sorry if its a bit confusing but this is my choice of hooks

                        Regards Steve

Bloody hell, not leaving anything to chance with a selection of hooks like that Steve.

It all depends what venue i am fishing and the time of year, the last eight matches have been silver fish, hence Tubertini 801 and 247's. Next match all F1's hence 808. When i go to a bagging water i like a strong hook, hence Tubertini 175 for large baits, paste 8mm pellet nice round bend. For meat/corn and soft pellet Colmic 501 and 958.

I used to use B911's but i have had a few straighten out, so changed to the Tubertini 175.

                            Regards Steve

The tubertini hooks look good, what is your preference between the 801 and 247 for silvers.
