      I want to fish a 20 ft rod in margins with a centrepin reel, anyone do this

        If you have a pin with a ratchet,it will stop from free spinning, thumb pressure will stop backwinding until you release your thumb!

        Otherwise no go, these were designed to spin, may need a fixed spool if want a permanent anti reverse.

          You control the reel with your thumb,great for carp fishing just watch whe your landing a fish on a long rod you may find its half ay up your rod till you get use to it lol

            looking forward to dropping it in the middle of reeds with some bread on, ive never used a centrepin so should be good sport

              most quality pins, both bearing, and true pins, have ratchets these days. I've got an aerial, and it has one.
