    has any one any advice on best way to fish naburn above and below wier fished it on point where it splits down to lock ground bait feeder red maggot bite a chuk but only small stuffany advice welcome thanks

        if you are fishing from the naburn village side go onto the sanbank just below the lock.There are some very "big lumps" here such as barbel chub and massive carp but it is an absolute snag pit so you will need to have a serios chuck around to find a clear patch.Persevear and you will catch all day on most of the popular baits.Fish just off the rod end and I mean off the rod end on the top of the sand bank nearest to the lock and you will get some monster perch and flounders on worm .there are many pike here and a favourite method is to dead bait with half a mackeral.
        Another good swim is the other end of the sand bank near to the old sunken barge.Trot a maggot stick float down near to the willow and expect some quality roach until old essox arrives and spoils the fun.
        There are some very large salmon in the weirpool but thats another story.Hope this helps.
