most pegs respond all year round to corn meat maggot up to 5meters ,will catch down 1st shelf even on coldest day
They personaly dont think they can compete with silvers so they wont fish for them
Maybe Darren knows better ?? or has more confidence in a silver approach
But you need a hell of a lot of silvers to weigh 50+ lbs
Depends on the calibre of angler in your club, in our club most people shy away from the carp as they are born and bred river and canal anglers. I just prefer to fish for silvers to be fair col. If I were up against some of you guys then yes I would probably have to target the carp. I like to be able to fish the whip and have a good bag of silvers with a few carp thrown in for good measure lol. Like I say a confident angler can do 30lb on the right peg with silvers but if othrs are going carp or bust, then perhaps you are correct and silvers alone wont cut it.

Have you been there since they have cut all the trees down col ??? totaly transformed the pool, for better or worse i`m not sure, but a cracking venue.

Lots of silvers mate to maggot on the whip, 20lb to 30lb easily acheivable . the deeper pegs by the jetty are noted flyers in the colder months. Fish 14.5 to the end of the jetty with corn feeding pellet sparingly. other pegs I would fish the lead with corn towards the middle of the pool, and a couple of pole lines at 11.5 and 14.5. If i remember right you will need top 4s as it is fairly deep. corn and pellet overr micros works, as does worm and caster. The carp run big and are animals. Given the cold snap this week i would err on the side of caution though.
