Yep, you can use groundbait, main bait rule is fishery only pellets.
Recently I've been using the pellet feeder to the island with micros, but you need to get tight over and some pegs have bushes coming out and it can be hard to get right over - if you don't get tight you can pestered by small skimmers.
Down the margins I feed groundbait and plenty of it - again skimmers can be a big nuisance, so it can be a case of spotting a carp in the peg and catching it, then doing other things until another turns up.

Yeah I work with Old Ghost, did all the original testing and development.
The speci carp expands massively when its mixed up, so you need to make sure you have enough water in it when its mixed - for a margin mix I put a full 3 pint bait tub of water to a single bag of groundbait - it initially goes like porridge but after 10 minutes its soaked it up, softened and expanded and it will all sink - if it hasn't got enough water, when it expands it can take on a little bit of air and you may get some floating - but only a tiny percentage of the overall mix.
Ive used a mix of speci and match carp recently for margin work, with no issues of anything floating.
the green algea is brilliant, will pretty much do anything - as you say great on the method, but works fantastically well on the open ender for bream too.
