Little John Lake/sherwood forest fishery

I'm looking for a match this tuesday and have seen these two in the angling times. Has any one fished either and are they worth the traveling from lincs.

What methods and baits would you use for either.

Little john lake is a fishery neat ollerton notts who have matches on tuesday. I have seen the web site for sherwood forest fishery but i would like the views of t/a members who have fished the matches befor has you can learn far more from them than on a web site.

The only thing I have heard is that being a new fishery there are not many features ?? but the good news is they say it's stuffed with fish .

Weldec, fished the match today and winter as finally hit the wind was belting through and it was freezing. I fished lake 1 which as 3 islands at 15 to 18 mtrs away, it is stuffed with fish the majority around 4-8 oz so when i weighed 9lb-4oz it didn't seem much return for a hard days fishing in the teeth of the wind. Best weight was 25lb of carp to 6lb and the back up weights were around the 19lb mark.

The lads that fish these matches are friendly and it is a nice little fishery with 2 lakes with about 25 pegs per lake.

I learned a fair bit today so will go again when my shifts allow.

Thanks for the update mate, Not good news on the windy front but at least you caught mate and no dry net. Takes a brave man to stand up to these chill winds well done for persevering and also taking the time to report back with your results. Bet you will be popping down to Sherwood forest in the summer when it really comes into its own.

I might have to try the lake out in Ollerton then, I knew there was one there but couldn't find any info on it!

My girlfriends parents live nearby in Rufford and when we visit (I'm from Coventry) I quite often take my tackle with me

I've only fished Sherwood forest farm which is a cracking venue, I like to fish Cavendish lake and I've had some good mornings fishing there!
