Wireless Keyboard & Optical Mouse

Need help,
Wife bought me one last week, followed the instructions in the booklet but it wont work.Put batteries in where they should be, got mouse to light up but thats all nothing its just frozen same as the keyboard.Loaded disc that seems ok. Anybody got any ideas.
Or is there button to start it up that I dont know about.

Frank you usually have to get the keyboard and mouse to conect to the wireless device of ten that means pressing something on the wireless device
I assume its a usb connection if so use one at the back of your pc not the front and also avoid using a usb hub.

Got it working, only got find out what all the buttons are for.
